Convincing Championsh­ip win for St Patrick’s Minors

St Patrick’s minor boys had a convincing win over St Bride’s in the second round of the championsh­ip.

Leonard Grey opened the scoring inside the first minute and they were lucky not to fall behind only for a great save from Lee McDonnell. St Bride’s levelled the game on the sixth minute. St Patrick’s dominated in large parts of the first half with Aaron McParland, Rory Duffy, Matthew Pagni and Tadhg O’Connor all adding scores to build up a four point lead. St Bride’s, however kept battling hard and didn’t let St Pat’s build a lead reducing it to two points with 19 minutes left of the half. Both sides added scores in the last 10 minutes however it was St Pat’s who finished strong and went in at the break leading by four points.

St Patrick’s came out in the second half determined not to let St Bride’s get into the game with Patrick Lynch opening the scoring before a Jack Murphy goal left eight between the sides. Rory Duffy had a great game in the middle of the field breaking down a lot of St Bride’s play while also

linking well with the forwards. Adam Finnegan added a point before St Bride’s added two points to reduce the lead back to 6.

Jack Murphy added his second goal of the game to put nine between the sides. St Bride’s however added 1-1 in two minutes. St Patrick’s continued to add to their tally with Tadhg O’Connor getting their third goal of the match and two goals in the last 10 minutes from Aaron McParland helped give the Pats a comfortabl­e 5-17 v 1-9 victory.

The lads now play Cooley in the final round needing a win to progress in the championsh­ip.
