O’Fiaich College has new student leaders
BEING given the title and position of student leader is an honour and a privilege awarded to twenty two of Ó Fiaich College’s exemplary senior students.
These students are selected each year following a rigorous application and interview process to ensure that they are suited to the role.
The student leaders are involved in all aspects of school life and are role models to younger students, providing an example and setting the standard by which other students measure themselves.
They play a crucial role in ensuring that the ethos of the school carries across to all areas of school life.
The student leaders assist in the day to day running of the school by helping out at lunchtime supervision. They also are present at school events such as prize giving, open nights and parent teacher meetings.
The student leader team is headed by the Head Girl and Head Boy. These students are elected by the group of student leaders and their teachers. This year’s Head Girl and Head Boy are Molly McShane and Dylan Sharkey.
They are an integral link between the student body and the staff of the post-primary school. These two students are expected to assume their role with professionalism and exemplify model students at all times.
Throughout the year, the student leaders are involved in a number of activities including team building, the seven habits of a highly effective teenager, Christmas jumper day and hot chocolate party, Christmas luncheon, LinkedIn dream big training, day to day supervision duties, as well as representing the school at events such as prize giving, parent teacher meetings and open night and the end of year overnight trip to Lilliput Adventure Centre.
