DUNDALK LADIES

-

THE Competition in aid of Breast Cancer Research was held on Saturday 3rd and Tuesday 6th September. Darren Clarke has teamed up with Breast Cancer Research for the national Pink Day Competitions. Breast Cancer Research is a national charity that funds a research programme at the National University of Ireland, Galway.

The club house both inside and outside the course was awash with pink. The Dundalk Ladies came out in large numbers to support this very worthy cause. It was fantastic to see so many people dressed in all kinds of pink outfits. Some went so far as wearing matching outfits. Noeleen Gernon and her sister Joan Smith were the belles of the golf course winning first prize for their matching golf outfits.

The scoring was superb with the winners Elaine Ward and Olivia Cunningham coming in with 40 pts. They narrowly beat Agnes Hamill from Ardee Golf Club and Teresa Byrne who also had 40 pts. The Gross was won by Deirdre Smith and Pauline Campbell with 30 pts.

The men’s nine hole competition was won by Vice Captain Mickey Coburn with 22pts. Well done to all the winning scores. The overall winners Elaine and Olivia and the gross winners Deirdre and Pauline have qualified to play in The National Final in The Galway Bay Golf and Country Club. This is a fantastic achievement. We wish them the very best of luck in Galway.

At the presentation evening the Lady Captain Jean Connolly expressed how delighted she was at the large amount of money raised for Breast Cancer Research. The total amount was 2105 euros. She thanked both the ladies and the men who participated in the competition
