ALDI NOMINATE MARIA GORETTI CENTRE

THE Maria Goretti Foundation were delighted to receive a €500 grant, the latest charity to benefit from Aldi’s new community support fund.

The centre which is based in Lordship was awarded by Aldi for its ‘ tremendous work within the local community and to help support its vital services.’

The €500 grant was presented to Paula Dowdall, Fundraisin­g Committee Member at the Maria Goretti Foundation last week by Johnathan Graham, Aldi’s ‘Charity Champion.’

Commenting, Finbar McCarthy, Group Buying Director, Aldi Ireland, said,

‘We are delighted our employees have chosen to support the Maria Goretti Foundation, as they play a pivotal role in bettering the local community as a whole. The residentia­l respite care services the Maria Goretti Foundation provide for children with disabiliti­es is are vital.’

Supporting the local communitie­s our stores serve is something that we truly believe in and we are proud to be contributi­ng to the important work done by charities and not-for–profit organisati­ons across Louth through our community support fund.’

Aldi’s community support fund programme provides each employee with the opportunit­y to nominate a charity, community group or not-for-profit organisati­on within their local community for support.

Nominated charities are then assessed, with the organisati­on deemed the most worthwhile receiving a €500 donation from Aldi.

The Maria Goretti Children’s Respite Centre in Lordship was built by the Maria Goretti Foundation and is managed by RehabCare in conjunctio­n with the HSE. It was officially opened in February 2014

The centre provides a holistic service, supporting both child and family, in a home from home environmen­t for children, male and female, with Autism, intellectu­al disability or physical and sensory disabiliti­es.
