PATCHWORK DISPLAY

The North East Branch of The Irish Patchwork Society, which holds its meetings in Kilkerley Community Centre, is having a display in the Marshes Shopping Centre this Saturday, September 24, from 10.00am to 6.00pm. There will be quilts and other small items made by the members on display. New members are always welcome, so please come along and have a look.

VINTAGE DAY

The Anderson Family’s Annual Vintage Threshing will be held this Sunday, September 25, at 2.00pm at the home of John & Betty Anderson, Reaghstown, Ardee. There will be the usual tea/ coffee, cakes, buns and scones served in the barn afterwards. Again this year we will have a donation bucket with all proceeds going towards Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin; another extremely worthy cause and we look forward to your continued support. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.

FOROIGE

The local Foroige Club recommence­d activity on Friday night last in the Community Centre.

Great turn out of members who registered on first night and membership fees are €20 per member and €30 per family of 2 or more. Places not guaranteed as more Leaders are badly needed to run a bigger successful club. If you are interested in volunteeri­ng for Leader role please contact the Foroige Club.

SUPPORT HOSPICE

Annual Concert for the Hospice with Mike Denver Entertaine­r of the year, supported by Ray Murtagh takes place on October 27, in the Nuremore Hotel. Phone 0429661438 or Paddy at 0863,555,555 for tickets. Doors open at 7.00pm and show starts at 8.00pm. Admission €20. Great night for a Great cause.

CEOL CHILL CHOIRLE

Music continues each Wednesday evening. Adults and children welcome. Special focus on junior ad leaving cert practical exams, whistle, guitar and fiddle. Contact 085 1485553 for all details.

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place each Friday from 6.30p.m.-7.30p.m.

Please pray for Fr Kieran McKeown, Clonoe, Tommy Byrne, Crossmagle­n, Paddy Mulholland, Gorteen, Rita Lennon, Drumnagrel­la, Michael Corrigan, Kathleen O’Hare, Kilcurry who died recently.

Enrolment Sunday for first penance and holy communion will take place on October 2, at 10.00am Mass.

A Triduum in honour of St. Thérèse of Lisieux will take place in Kilkerley on Thursday, Friday, September 29/30 at 7.30pm. and Saturday October 1, (feastday) at 6.00pm. All welcome!

Next PART meeting takes place in Darver Church meeting rooms on Wednesday, September 28, at 8.00pm.

Children from Scoil Mhuire Gan Smal will recite a decade of the Rosary after Communion at Sunday Masses beginning on Sunday, October 9, in Kilkerley.

BOWLS

Kilkerley Bowls Club continue each Wednesday from 7.45pm to 10.00pm in Kilkerley Community Centre. New members are most welcome to join the club.

YOUNG AT HEART

The local Young at Heart Club meet this Thursday in the Community Centre from 6.30pm. New members welcome.

SUNDAY DANCING

Dancing in the Community Centre this Sunday night September 25 with music by Showbud.

Housty play on October 2, Liam Mannering on October 9, Checkers on October 16 and Big Pat on October 23.Dancing from 9.00pm to 12 midnight.

AUCTION

Milltown Hall Trust are preparing for the Annual Fundraisin­g Auction taking place this Sunday, September 25, in Milltown Hall with viewing from 1.00pm on the day. Interestin­g items welcome if you have any to donate such as Antiques, Household Items, Furniture, and Architectu­ral Salvage or Garden items etc. Donations of items would be appreciate­d with collection arranged. ANCESTORS

Four visitors from Chicago were in the parish recently, hoping to catch up on informatio­n about their ancestors. Their grandmothe­r Julia McGuinness who was born in 1896 in Kilkerley, (to parents Patrick McGuinness and his wife who was nee Clark), had emigrated from Kilkerley in her teens to Chicago. So if anyone can help on this it would be most appreciate­d and if so please contact 086 8338531
