Ryan sets sights on three-in-a-row

-

MAN-OF-THE-MATCH Michael Ryan insisted St Fechin’s will be back gunning for a threein-a-row in 2017 after retaining their Anchot Tours SHC title on Sunday.

‘From the very start we said we’d be dogs of war and that we’d win every ball and we did, so we’re delighted.

‘We gave them the first score, but sure we took over after that.

‘We’re a young team, I’m only 19 myself so hopefully there’s more in us. We’ll be coming back next year for the treble.’

Goals proved crucial for Fechin’s and Ryan was at the heart of it al, setting up the first one for Seaghan Conneely and bagging two for himself.

His first goal, Fechin’s second, was the pick of the bunch and probably the score that broke Knockbridge’s resolve.

‘I just hit as hard as I could so luckily it went in.

‘We went out to put the ball over the bar, but when the goals come you have to take them. We like to dominate games and that’s what we did.

‘We set out win the senior league and championship so we’re delighted to have done it.’

Ryan paid tribute to free-taker Paddy Lynch, reciprocating some kind words from the wing-forward 12 months ago.

‘Paddy praised me last year for winning the frees and I’ll do the same this year and praise Paddy for scoring the points, he’s the one who puts them on the board and fair play to him.’
