ON Friday night we headed for the Clans clubrooms where a 21st birthday party was being held for Jason Murphy from Ashling Park and there to make sure he had a fantastic night were his parents Rose and Michael, sisters Susan, Karen and Pamela and brothers Thomas and Michael and huge collection of family and friends.

I wasn’t too long in the door when I met up with a couple of Jason’s mates including Craig Long from Castletown Road, Shane Murphy from Faughart and Jordan McAlester from Beechmount Drive who told me they are drinking buddies with the birthday boy and played with him with the Clans and more currently with Rangers.

I then headed over for a chat with Jim McGuirk from Mill Road who was there with his wife and Jason’s sister Susan, their kids Aimee and James as well as his girlfriend Sonia O’Driscoll from Castletown Road who were up for making it a mad night and couldn’t wait for the real crack to get going.

I then met up with Jason’s sister Pamela Bennett from Dromiskin who was with husband Keith and kids Oisin and Ellen and their friend Hilda Toner also from Dromiskin and I was told it was going to be a smashing night after the kids got to go home.

They were joined by Michéal Lee from Doylesfort Road who was with Jason’s nieces Chloe and Tamira Murphy from Toberona who were all looking well and ready to party.

Making my way over to another table I then got a word with aunts Bernadette Cuddel and Annie Byrne both from Drogheda who were with Annie’s husband Austin who all wanted to wish Jason a very happy birthday and hoped he had a lovely night.

Seated at an adjacent table I then got a word with aunt and niece Theresa and Leanne Cuddel who were up from Dublin specially for the party and were definitely up for making it a real night to remember.

After this I got talking to Jason’s neighbour Marie McElligott from Ashling Park who was enjoying the party with Aine Sellick from Fatima Court and they were looking forward to a lovely night with Jason and his family.

Not too long later I then met up with Jason’s sister Karen English from Castle Heights who was with husband Derek and kids Emma and Katie and she told me they were all ‘ having a ball’.

I then caught up with Jason’s brother Michael Murphy from Oldbridge who wanted to wish him all the best on his big night.

Finally, as I departed I met up with Barry Carr from St. Nicholas Avenue and Sam Gorham from Pearse Park who were looking super fresh and wanted to wish Jason all the best on his big night.
