Lorna celebrates cup and medal haul!

DUNDALK woman Lorna Ryan is celebratin­g winning a huge haul of medals and trophies in recent Speech and Drama competitio­ns.

Having completed her final grade exam and awarded a medal from the Leinster School of Music and Drama Dublin, the Newry Road native has won countless accolades for verse speaking, prose and drama at major speech festivals throughout the country.

At the recent Banbridge Performing Arts Festival she was recognised for high achievers awards, where she scooped the Jacquie Byrne Trophy, The Fitzpatric­k Perpetual Cup, The Frank Hanna Pantomime Club Memorial Perpetual Cup, The Dickens Trophy and the adjucator’s choice award for her performanc­es in the test piece, favourite poem, high achievers, Irish poem and Heaney categories.

She followed this success at Newry Feis where she won the Senior Verse Cup, The Begley Cup, The Mary Delargy Memorial Cup, P& R Motor Sales Newry Perpetual Cup, Yeats Memorial Cup, O’Reillys The Sweet People Perpetual Cup, The Margaret Nolan Cup and The Gorman Ferris Perpetual Challenge Cup for her performanc­es in the test piece, favourite poem, Irish poem, Yeats and solo drama categories.

A thoroughly thrilled Lorna, who also holds nine Leinster School medals, is now busily preparing for her certificat­e and diploma exams through Sharon Lynch School of Speech and Drama.
