Rogers ‘keeps’ Glenmuir on track for win

-

again.

Caeva McGee came to Woodview’s rescue in the early minutes, clearing off her goal line as the play swung from end to end, with both goalkeepers snuffing out danger with timely advances on more than one occasion

Then Sean Duffy broke the deadlock with a scintillating piece of play, picking the ball up inside the Woodview half, and with a lightning change of pace took off on an arcing run that saw him slice through the defence leaving a handful of opponents in his wake as he entered the penalty box and shot to the net.

Tony McAnally twice went agonisingly close to equalising for Woodview in quick succession, striking the post and then denied by Rogers with a point blank save from no more than a few yards from goal.

It was then Glenmuir’s turn again to apply the pressure, followed by a goal being disallowed for Woodview as the play swung from end to end.

McAnally hit the Glenmuir post again, but the home side doubled their lead just before the break when Eric Nomiqe ran onto a fine pass and shot into the roof of the net.

The second half only started when Nojus Adlizus made it three nil. Glenmuir seemed to be ready to pull right away when Nomiqe headed in Conal McGeough’s cross.

But Woodview were having none of that and had the lion’s share of the attacking play from there until the end and were unfortunate not to score more than once.
