James was a loving familyman

- James (Jemmy) Reilly 1948 – 2016

THE death occurred on 12 October last, following a tragic accident of James (Jemmy) Reilly, Church View, Dromiskin, Dundalk.

Aged 68, James, who was fondly known as Jemmy, was a loving family man, and a great friend to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

He had many great qualities, but being a father and grandfather was always top of his list. Some of Jemmy’s happiest times were when he was surrounded by his family and friends.

He was always willing to lend a hand, and there in times of need.

Jemmy was hard-working, and loved nothing more than tending his animals, and was often on call, morning and night.

One of his passions, was his twice-weekly bingo trips, and nothing stood in his way to get there.

He was the life and soul of the many family gatherings down through the years, and would instantly illuminate a room when he walked in.

Jemmy’s working life saw him do a variety of jobs, from GEC in Dunleer, Brian Kerr, Dromiskin; James and Rita Campbell, Lurgangreen for more than 25 years, McCaughey’s, Lurgangreen and in later years, he worked with his friend, Tommy Moriarty.

In the later years of his life, Jemmy met his partner, Mary, and took on a new lease of life, from foreign holidays to day trips to the ploughing championships.

He had a zest for life, which sadly ended too soon.

Jemmy was predeceased by his parents, James and Claire Reilly, The Lakes, Mooretown, Dromiskin, Dundalk.

He is survived by his daughters, Philomena (Monaghan) and Aishling (Kilkenny); sons, John (Dromiskin) and James (Meath); partner, Mary (Dromiskin); brother, Gus (Dundalk); sisters, Elizabeth (Newry) and Bridie (Drogheda); grandchildren, Aaron, Jack, Matthew, Aibhlinn, Aine and wide family circle.

The Month’s Mind Mass is on Sunday, 13 November at 10.30am in St. Peter’s Church, Dromiskin.
