Neven Maguire to lend support to Cooley Christmas market

-

CHRISTMAS market with a difference will take place in St Mary’s Parochial Hall Cooley on Sunday December 4.

Cooley Charity Country Markets are a unique community event, holding an identity all of their own. They are held twice per year in July and December. Every item offered for sale at the market is donated free of charge by kind people. The market runs from 9 am to 1 pm. Everything must be sold during those few short hours so bargains are in abundance. All money raised supports The Birches in Rath Abbey.

Neven Maguire Support: The organisers of the market were thrilled when the world famous chef, Nevan Maguire, came on board to lend his support.

He has donated the first prize for the draw - Sunday lunch for two people in his award winning restaurant in Black Lion, Co Cavan.

The magnificent Slieve Russell hotel in Cavan completed the prize by offering the lucky winner overnight accommodation and breakfast in their fabulous four star hotel. The draw for this prize and many other hampers and vouchers will take place at the market on Sunday December 4. Tickets priced at just €2 are available in many local shops.

Wide Variety on Offer: Donations are pouring in all the time for the Christmas Market. Many stalls are planned for this year’s event. There will be a wide variety of old antique delph and china. Others stalls will be selling logs, turf, hand knitting, jams, chutneys, and free range eggs.

Be prepared to be dazzled as you view the winter wonderland stall overflowing with Christmas lights, trees, handmade decorations, candles, etc. More stalls will be filled with preloved excellent quality children’s, ladies and gents clothes. Designer handbags will be snapped up by savvy shoppers.

The backbone of the market will as always be the home bakery stall. It will run the full length of Cooley Parochial Hall, showcasing the labours of many who bake for the market. The organisers wish to thank all their loyal bakers.

Generosity such as this is what sustains the market and is the key to it’s sweet success. Mrs Claus and her elves will be very busy in the market kitchen providing all shoppers with an opportunity to relax and savour some tasty bakes in her Christmas themed kitchen.

The organisers of the market wish to thank the many supporters of the market. Donations are always warmly welcomed. For information on donating please contact Anne at 086 3938289.
