Easy win for Castletown against Faughart Rovers

- NORTH LOUTH WINTER LEAGUE

CASTLETOWN played Faughart Rovers in Dundalk on Sunday last in the North Louth Winter League.

The game started with chances falling to both sides but on the 10th minute Castletown got the breakthrough when a Daniel Nowch cross into the box was volleyed into the top corner by Conor Murray.

They went 2-0 up when another cross by Nowch was picked up by Paddy Finnegan. He beat the defender before chipping the ball over the head of the Faughart goalkeeper.

Nowch was now running the show and he put Aaron Wright in for Castletown’s third goal.

Coming up to half time Faughart grabbed a goal when a mix-up in the Castletown defence saw Owen O’Hare react the quicker to smash the ball into the bottom corner to leave the score 3-1 at half time.

Into the second half Nowch scored a great goal from all of 20 yards to finish the game off as a contest and leave them 4-1 ahead. But there was still time for Castletown to grab two more goals by Dean Murray.

In the other matches played, Carlingford were beaten 7-3 at home by Edentubber and Ramparts had a 4-3 win over Heynestown.

FIXTURES: The league continues this weekend with a full programme of matches down for decision.
