S.O.N.G on song for sellout show with Evita

- Local singer/songwriter Sinead McNally has released her first single in three years.

STAGE One New Musical Group (S.O.N.G) are set to end their tenth anniversar­y celebratio­ns on a high note with their production of the Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber hit musical ‘Evita’ which opens in An Táin Arts Centre on this Wednesday until Saturday night.

During the past ten years, this immensely talented group have rightly earned a reputation for the high quality of their production­s, drawing on talented young singers and performers from the Dundalk area, many of whom have gone on to pursue profession­al careers.

The title role of the iconic Evita Peron is played by Sinead O’Callaghan who has returned from London specially to sing this part which was performed by Madonna in the Oscar winning film adaptation. Nik Parks, another regular with the group, plays Che with Brendan Cleary as Peron,

There is also a chorus of nearly of 50 people including a chorus of children aged eleven to sixteen, dancers and a fantastic rock band for the show which features songs like ‘Don’t Cry for Me Argentina’, ‘Oh What A Circus’, and ‘Another Suitcase in Another Hall.’

As usual Terese Dunne and Rosemary Winkless are heading the production team, along with musical director Patrick Dunne. This year, Terese is joined by Aoife Feeney and Tara Gill as cheorograp­hers for what promises to be a superb show.
