‘Relay’ strong finish earns Glenmore gold

ATHLETICS

- Kaitlin Mulholland of Dundalk St Gerard’s AC finishing second in the Girls Under-16 race. Glenmore AC’s U-16 winners Niall Brady, Glen Stewart, Andrew Moore and James McArdle.

GLENMORE AC seniors Fiona McQuaid, Michael Mc Shane, Ronan Callan and Barry Woods ran the Clontarf half Marathon and 5 miler on Saturday last.

On Sunday our juveniles competed in the Louth Juvenile Cross Country Relays at Newtownsta­laban in perfect but cold conditions.

First up were the U10 girls Emma Mc Carragher, Grace Keenan, Katie Mc Donald and Jessica White finishing strong just outside the medals. Glenmore fielded two U12 girls teams, Lucy White, Orlaith Daly, Ava Brady & Lisa Conlon and Emily Touhy, Sophia Rennick, Aoife Mc Gee & Anna Dawson all running well.

U12 boys Shane Gallager, Cormac McCoy, Aaron Hanratty & Fionn Reilly competed well in their event.

Saving the best until last the U16 boys stormed home in gold position, the team James Mc Ardle, Andrew Moore, Glen Stewart & Niall Brady each contribute­d to a fantastic team performanc­e. Well done to all.

Meanwhile, last Friday Glenmore AC hosted their annual fundraisin­g quiz in Fergusons Bar, Gyles Quay and thanks are due to all those who participat­ed to make it a great evening.

As ever quizmaster Tony Loughran played a blinder with all enjoying the fun.

Thanks also to Fergusons Bar for hosting the club and their generous donation and to those who sponsored the spot prizes: Ciaran Walsh Castletown Pharmacy, Lush Boutique Carlingfor­d, Martins Pub Riverstown, Bradleys Pharmacy Carlingfor­d, Mary McArdle, Joan Farnon, Bradys.

In all, €1,221.80 was raised for the club on the night!
