Conference on opportunit­ies for migrant workers

A conference looking at the subject of internatio­nal and migrant workers in Ireland and ethnic and minority entreprene­urship, takes place in Creative Spark, Clontygora, Muirhevnam­or on Friday December 2 from 9.30am to 2pm.

The panel of speakers will address issues including the experience of being an ethnic or minority entreprene­ur in Ireland, cross-border working and how we can maximise the economic potential of all communitie­s.

They include Professor Tom Cooney, DIT, Kamal Kainth, Urban Indian, Dr. Anthony Soares, Centre for Cross-Border Studies, Annmarie O’Kane, Border People, Leanne McDonagh, Norah’s Traveller Academy and Tunde Adeosun Chairperso­n, African Chamber of Commerce in Belfast.

The seminar forms part of the ENTER project which aims to encourage groups to contribute to a regional partnershi­p of stakeholde­rs working in interface areas to encourage a supportive environmen­t for entreprene­urs and enterprise. It also wants to educate the groups to work with those operating in interface areas to identify opportunit­ies through entreprene­urship and enterprise to foster good relations, and to increase the chances of successful entreprene­urship by developing and delivering up to date training to improve enterprise opportunit­ies in interface areas.

Through a specifical­ly establishe­d Regional Partnershi­p, the ENTER Project, is benefittin­g from the guidance, input and support of the key stakeholde­rs including Louth County Council Louth, Leader Partnershi­p, Department Of Social Protection, Local Enterprise Office Louth, Dundalk BIDS, DKIT, Louth Craftmark Designer Network, Newry and Mourne Enterprise Agency, Redeemer Family Resource Centre and Louth County Enterprise Fund.
