Migraine seminar tackles common issue

-

THE focus will be on a health issue that plagues many people when migraine and headache expert Dr Raeburn Forbes presents a seminar at the Louth County Hospital tomorrow (Thursday) December 1st.

The seminar is aimed at health professionals including GP’s, hospital doctors, nurses, physios and occupational therapists or other health professionals with an interest in treating migraine.

Migraine is the most common neuro- logical condition in the world, affecting around 12 %to 15% of people.

It is three times more common in women than it is in men and is usually inherited.

Dr Forbes has developed an online course and website resource, to help people control their headaches and migraine, entitled a ‘Headache Friendly Lifestyle’.

These seminars aim to increase participant’s ability to diagnose migraine headache and to distinguish between migraine and other forms of headache including sinister headache.

The seminar will also inform participants on current and emerging treatments and medications for migraine and increase their ability to advise long term migraine sufferers on strategies for self management.

It takes place from 6.30pm to 9pm in the Conference Room of Louth County Hospital.

Attendance is free but to register contact info@migraine.ie or call 01-894 1280.
