NOW in it’s fourth year, Bush4mation is a hugely successful community effort which aims at helping people from the Cooley peninsula take stock of their lives and get active.

Timed to coincide with New Year resolutions and the screening of the popular RTE programme Operation Transformation, which this year includes Carlingford woman Yvonne Keenan Ross as a leader, Bush4mation is open to anyone who wants to get fit and healthy.

The initiative is a joint venture between Bush Post Primary School Parents Association and Glenmore AC and uses the state of the art facilities at the school and running track.

This year sees a team of eight leaders drawn from the local community heading up a wide range of activities and classes, suitable for people of all ages and levels of fitness.

‘We are blessed with the number of people who have committed to helping us with this programme,’ says Glenmore AC chairperson Rose White. ‘We registered dietitian Dara Morgan who last year received an award from Kathryn Thomas on behalf of the group so Bush4mation was featured on RTE and also Irish TV. Members from our own club, Cuchulainn Gaels, Cooley Kickhams, the Pats, Bellurgan United, as well as Shane Toner and Katie Bell, giving their expertise. And we couldn’t do it without all those who help with setting up the facilities and work as stewards.’

‘We wouldn’t be able to run the programme without the great help we get from our leaders, coaches and the Physical Education and Home Economics teachers in Bush Post Primary School.’

Bush4mation will run over four weeks this year, starting on Monday January 9. Classes include mindfulness, jiving, yoga, kickboxercize, Zumba, pilates, strength and conditioning, running and jogging and guided walks. Dara Morgan will be on hand to give information on diet and nutrition.

Special Olympics medal winner Eve McCrystal was among those who attended the launch of Bush4mation on Sunday.

Pre-registration for the 2017 programme takes place on Wednesday December 17 at Bush Post Primary School at 3pm and 7pm. The fee is €50 which includes all activities and funds raised go towards the school and athletics club.
