LOUTH’S Student Enterprise Programme for secondary schools is experiencing record numbers of young entrepreneurs.

‘Numbers participating in the programme this year have increased by over 25%. We now have in excess of 1,000 students in 18 schools in Louth taking part,’ said Peggy McGlynn of the Local Enterprise Office manages the Student Enterprise Programme. Through the programme students learn to develop business ideas, conduct market research, source materials and produce their products, design their packaging and marketing literature, sell their product to the public and manage their company finances, all valuable business and enterprise skills.’

Louth also had one of the highest levels of entries in Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur (IBYE) 2016. The IBYE County Finals will take place on Tuesday 13th December at Bellingham Castle where a county winner will be announced in each category. Each will win investment in their business plus additional business support as they move forward to the Regional Finals in January.

‘ The future of enterprise is looking bright in Louth,’ said Louth’s head of enterprise, Thomas McEvoy.

‘We’re in great hands with our student and youth entrepreneurs and we at the Local Enterprise Office Louth will keep supporting their development and growth.’
