Welcome boost for Christmas as pay parking reduced

- Pay Parking reduced this month.

IN another welcome boost for yuletide shoppers, parking charges in Dundalk are set to be reduced again this Christmas period to encourage people to shop local.

Parking charges have been halved across Louth from €1 per hour to 50 cent per hour from December 1st and will continue at these reduced rates until to Saturday January 7th inclusive.

The reduction will apply to both on-street parking and the car parks managed by Louth County Council and will be clearly displayed on pay parking machines.

Charges at the council’s Long Term car parks at Linenhall Street, the Long Walk and the Ramparts Road will remain unchanged at a cost of €2 per day.

Parking will also be half price in the Marshes Shopping Centre.

A spokesman for local authority added: ‘Louth County Council encourages everyone to make their way into the towns of the county and have the experience that only they can provide at Christmas, whether shopping for Christmas gifts, catching up with friends or just soaking up the atmosphere and enjoying the Christmas lights.

As if the shops, bars and restaurants weren’t enough to entice you, the cost of parking in the urban centres has been halved to €0.50 per hour in Dundalk and €0.60 in Drogheda.

This applies to on-street parking and car parks run by Louth County Council. These special Christmas parking charges are in place from 1st December to 7th January, 2017.’
