Strike up the band for Parade

-

LOCAL bands are being invited to apply for four places to showcase their talent in front of the thousands of spectators at this year’s St Patrick’s Day Parade in Dundalk.

The bands will perform at positions along the parade route and entertain the audiences waiting for the parade to make its way along Dundalk’s main streets.

St Patrick’s Day Parade Chairperson, David Minto said: ‘Our parade in Dundalk gets more impressive with each year. Of course we have the marching bands element but we want to have more live music throughout the parade to keep people of all ages entertained.’

‘So, sticking with our TEAM Dundalk theme we want to hear from bands who would like to showcase their work to our spectators. Hopefully in doing so they will benefit from future bookings.’

Those interested in being one of the lucky four bands should contact parade@dundalk.ie with information on their band, indicating the genre of music they plan and number of musicians, etc.

This year’s St Patrick’s Day parade is once again organised by Dundalk Chamber of Commerce and sponsors to date include Fyffes, Louth County Council, Longwalk Shopping Centre and Dundalk BIDS.

Any groups interesting in taking part in the parade, which takes place on Friday March 17 at 1pm should contact Kim or Chloe in Dundalk Chamber of Commerce at 042 9336343 or certs@dundalk.ie.
