Dundalk pupils medal in Navan

KARATE WKFI LEAGUE

- The Dundalk Karate team in Navan.

THE WKFI League started with a bang for Dundalk Karate / CIKA Dundalk recently.

Junior member Abigail got the day off to a great start with a bronze medal in the under-8 kata, while Ryley Maher narrowly missed out on the podium spot in the under-10 kata.

Despite competing in a huge category Liam Hoey and Franciszek Chimeleckinegotiated several rounds to meet each other in the under-12 kata.

It was the very first time the teammates squared off in a final and after a brilliant battle Franciszek received the judges’ decision to secure gold, with Liam taking silver.

Head of Dundalk Karate, Sensei Marcus congratulating both finalists afterwards and with numerous more League competitions scheduled for the coming year, this kata category is certainly going to be a very interesting one to watch.

With Kumite quickly following the completion of all Kata categories, Abigail was again first up, followed quickly by Franciszek and Liam.

However this time around only Franciszek came away with a bronze medal with both Abigail and Liam narrowly missing out.

With training continuing every Monday and Thursday in the Redeemer Family Resource Centre for members of Dundalk Karate - CIKA Dundalk and with an upcoming Seminar with Junior Lefevre in Dublin members are gaining valuable experience under the guidance of Sensei Marcus.
