KILKERLEY EMMETS 1-9 NA PIARSAIGH 1-7

KILKERLEY Emmets came out on top in this closely contested Sheelan Cup encounter at the Rock Road on Sunday morning.

It was the visitors who settled quickest into the game with two points from two frees in the first six minutes before a goal from full forward Darren Meehan in the 14th minute.

A goal by Mark Larkin brought the sides level, but Meehan edged the visitors in front at half time.

Emmets kicked three points in the opening 10 minutes of the second half to consolidat­e their lead and they held firm in the face of a strong finish by the hosts.
