- Margaret Hughes 1937-2017 The late Margaret Hughes

THE death has occurred of Margaret (Margie) Hughes, peacefully, on 21 January, 2017, surrounded by her daughters, in the loving care of St. Peter’s nursing home.

Margaret’s health deteriorat­ed over the last few months, and her passing is mourned by her daughters, sisters, brothers, and family, as well as her neighbours and friends.

Margaret (nee Davidson) was a native of Boyle O’Reilly Terrace, Dundalk, and reared her family in Oakland Park.

Generous in her nature, she loved to be of service to family and friends.

Despite her illness, she never lost her sense of humour, and was an avid devotee of Country music.

Margie is survived by her five daughters, Carmel, Jackie, Valerie, Majella and Amanda; sisters, Julia, Briege and Maria; brothers, Peadar, Oliver, Gerard and Danny; eleven grandchild­ren, and three great-grandchild­ren.

Her coffin was accompanie­d by her daughters, and Requiem Mass in the Church of the Holy Redeemer was celebrated by Fr. Montague.

Readings were by her niece, Clodagh; grand-daughter, Rosaleen; grandson, Michael; grand-daughter, Stephanie; and niece, Colleen.

Offertory gifts were presented by grandchild­ren, Scott, Harry, Roisin and Padraig; and sacramenta­l gifts by sister, Julia; and niece, Siobhan.

Sympathise­rs were formally thanked by daughter, Majella.

Music was provided by organist, Prof. Mike Jones.

Burial took place in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.

The Month’s Mind Mass will take place in the Church of the Holy Redeemer on Sunday, 26 February, 2017, at 11.30am.
