WEDNESDAY’S 18 hole stableford: Class A - 1st Rita Black 34 ob6, 2nd Mary Gaynor 34; Class B - 1st Noeleen Cunningham 35, 2nd Allison Gough 33; Class C - 1st Angela Finnegan 35, 2nd Jacinta Muldoon 31. competitions will count towards the Spillassist sponsored Golfer of the Year prize, which is free membership for 2018.

Noel McParland the three-club king has added another bit of royalty to his bow after being crowned the Eclectic King following his pillar to post victory in the 6 week 12 hole competition.

In a hectic final week which saw huge improvements to some scores and a lot of swapping and changing in the 4 Sections Noel (17) out of Section 4 (H/Cap 15-19) with a 22 under par nett 24 stayed 2 shots clear to win the overall prize. Kevin Haughey (16) from the same Section 4 was runner up with a nett 26.

In Section One (H/Cap 3-6) long time leader Paul Kelly (4) saw Paddy Malone (4) take a two shot lead but in champion fashion Paul produced an eagle at the par 4 tenth and a birdie at the final hole 12 to finish with a nett 31 which was a shot better than runner-up Paddy.

Section Two (H/Cap 7-10) had Damien Reilly (9) as the winner with a nett 28 which was 2 shots clear of runner-up Pearse Murphy (7). A terrific final day improvement of 10 shots saw Fintan McAleenan (13) come out of the pack to snatch Section Three (H/Cap1114) from Raymond Kelly (11) who himself had leapt ahead of leader James Coburn.

Fintan finished with a nett 27 which was 2 shots clear of second placed Raymond. Section Four (H/ Cap 15-19) was the hottest section of the lot as it eventually housed the top two overall. Whilst Noel took the overall honours Kevin Haughey (16) was the section four winner by 2 shots from Graham Johnson (15) who in fairness sacrificed his last week of play to help Colin lay the artificial turf on the bridges and pathways on the course.

Round two of the Seniors Spring League on Thursday morning saw the real McCoy in the shape of Seamus making his mark by winning the competition with 2 shots to spare over Frank Ryan. Round three will take place next Thursday at 10am.

The Bridge walkways and the course entry alongside the first tee have been transformed with the laying of the artificial turf. A very neat, tidy job that gives a cushioned underfoot feel as opposed to the previously stoned pathways, has already enhanced the look of the course immeasurably. Members cannot wait to see how marvellous the place will look when the whole project is completed.

Saturday March 25 is when quiz number four will take place with all proceeds going to the IHCPT, who are a group of volunteers that take disabled and young children to Lourdes over the Easter break for some respite care.
