Experts ready for free event

THE British Psychologi­cal Society (NI branch) will hold its annual meeting at the Ballymasca­nlon Hotel this week, and are inviting Dundalk people to ‘an evening with something special for everyone’ tomorrow ( Wednesday).

The assocation has lines up an exhibition and series of talks aimed at giving immediate and relevant help to parents and children, young and old to enable all to Live Well Now. Refreshmen­ts will be served at 6pm.

This event marks the opening of the annual conference of the society and is jointly hosted by the Psychologi­cal Society of Ireland and the British Psychologi­cal Society. The event will be of interest to children, parents and those who plan to be; sportspeop­le and those who would like to be; women of ‘a certain age’ and those who live with them and older people and those who hope to be!

The profession­al bodies representi­ng psychologi­sts from all over Ireland bring a series of talks on topics relevant to people and families interested in being fitter, happier, healthier and more fulfilled in their lives right now.

Dr Nicola Doherty, Consultant Clinical Psychologi­st specialisi­ng in children; Dr Gavin Breslin, sports psychologi­st, Dr Liz Simpson, Ulster University, talks from her research on the menopause and Dr Frank Doyle, Royal College of Surgeons, looks at how we think and feel about ourselves and our health can have either a beneficial of a harmful affect on us as we age.

Local health promotion agencies will be available to talk to guests from 6 to 7pm. Speakers from 7 to 8.30pm. Speakers will welcome questions from guests.
