Houses burgled and March 17 arrests

DUNDALK Gardai reported that a number of houses were burgled in the last week, and also revealed that they made nine public order arrests in Dundalk on St Patrick’s Day.

The nine arrests were out of a total of 20 for the last seven days and were made mostly in Dundalk town centre. There was just one arrest for public order on March 17 in Drogheda.

Meanwhile, a house at Lismullen Grove was burgled between 5pm and 9pm on Saturday. Entry was gained by forcing open a back window and a small amount of cash, along with computer equipment, was stolen.

On the same night, between 7pm and midnight, a home at the Point Road was broken into and although the property was rummaged through, nothing appeared to have been taken.

And five cases of wine, along with a hedge strimmer were stolen from the back of a house at St Patrick’s Terrace on Tuesday, March 14,

Cars were also targeted this week, with a vehicle parked at Chapel Street broken into on St Patrick’s Day. Money was stolen from the glover compartmen­t and cash was also taken from a car at Castle Park, again on March 17, between midnight and 8am.

A 21-year-old man was questioned after the car he was in was stopped at Sliabh Foy Park shortly before midnight last Tuesday and a flick knife was found inside. Anyone with informatio­n about these incidents can contact Dundalk station at 042 9388400.
