- Michael Woods.

ONE of Dundalk’s oldest established law firms has moved closer to home. Peter Woods Solicitors is now operating from Jocelyn Mall off Jocelyn Street on the opposite side of the street to the Home Bakery at the junction of Chapel Street.

This is a busy thoroughfare in the traditional heart of Dundalk’s legal, medical and dental professions. The firm’s new offices are not much more than a stone’s throw from where the firm started and was based for many years next door to Saint Patrick’s Cathedral in Francis Street.

Family run it was opened in the 1930s by the late Peter Woods senior, who was the founder of the business and was senior partner for a long number of years. He was also state solicitor for Louth for a lengthy period. He built up a very high reputation as a highly able and competent practitioner with a vast knowledge and experience of all facets of the law.

His personal integrity and profession- alism was renowned and he passed on the finest traits and traditions of his profession to son, John who took over the running of the business and is still very actively involved today.

His son Michael is now the managing partner in the business. Michael’s own son Peter is also involved and is now the fourth generation of the family in the practice, currently undertaking his training in the profession.

Like every business and profession, law firms are facing new and different challenges and this means adapting all the time to the needs of clients and in order to attract new customers. Peter Woods Solicitors provide a full gamut of legal services from criminal litigation to family law, civil, property, wills and probate.

The move to Jocelyn Mall after a number of years at Market Square in the Elgee Building will enable the firm to better serve their clientele, and from a personal and sentimental perspective the family are delighted to be back to where the firm began.

The new offices are very accessible with plenty of parking space in close proximity. Business hours are Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 5pm.
