The will focus on age-related macular degeneration and diabetes-related sight loss, as well as rare genetic conditions that cause severe vision impairment

There are over 6,000 people in Louth living with severe vision impairment, and the event is part of the ongoing work of Fighting Blindness to raise awareness about different types of vision loss. Catriona Dunne, Advocacy Manager with Fighting Blindness said ‘We are delighted to be holding this event in Dundalk as we have received great support from the local community, and this is an opportunity to thank people.’

She explained that Fighting Blindness is working to find treatments and cures for conditions causing vision loss.

‘We also want to ensure that people who are blind or have vision impairment have access to information that is easy to understand, and to appropriate supports, such as our Insight Counselling Service.’

Anyone affected by vision loss is being urged to attend the information meeting, which takes place in the Oriel Centre, Dundalk Gaol on the Carrick Road, this Thursday March 23rd at 6.30 pm.
