With a flurry of excitement and expectatio­n, HaggleRock Theatre Group is busy making the final preparatio­ns for their latest production “Wake in the West.

Written by the talented Michael J Ginnelly, it is the third comedy play that the group have undertaken to perform in the last three years since being formed. The play is set in a small fishing village in the west of Ireland during the 1970s, and tells the story of the life and now the death of Tom Healy who was fond of the drink and in the end it was probably his demise.

Tom’s last dying wish is that he would be cremated and his ashes scattered at sea. This dying wish torments his family and the hilarious scenes that follow are brought to life by the excellent cast of HaggleRock Group.

Mayhem descends when Rose, an elderly neighbour, arrives to pay her respect. Her actions set in a motion of sequence of hilarious events as family and friends gather around for the wake and audiences will be treated to a full range of colourful characters that add to the general chaos.

The cast comprises of experience­d actors and new talent. Richard Bannon plays the main character Tom Healy. The others are filled by Mar- tin ( Tom Doonan), Dr John (Hughie O’Neill), Mary (Aoife Nic Eoin), Joan (Leanne McDonnell), Margaret (Anne Donaghy), Rose (Patricia Reynolds), Barney (Vincent Clarke) and Fr Cassidy (Jack Montgomery).

Following on from the success of ‘For Better, For Worse’ last year, HaggleRock Theatre Group are once again promising a hilarious evening of entertainm­ent. The play is directed by Brigitte Nelson, assisted by Joanne Dalton and a strong production team is led by Margaret Gamble and Collette Cronin.

HaggleRock will present the production in the Geraldines GFC Clubrooms, Haggardsto­wn over three nights, Thursday 6th, Friday 7th and Saturday 8th April at 8pm.

Tickets cost €10, and are available from HaggleRock members, BHK Credit Union, Main St, Blackrock, and St Francis National School, Blackrock and it’s expected the play will be a sell out.
