Pat’s on the up

Patrick McEleney’s double against St Patrick’s Athletic on Saturday means he has now scored four league goals in five outings so far this season. He managed just three in 23 appearances last year.

The big 6-oh for duo

Saturday night was a landmark game for both Paddy Barrett and Ciaran Kilduff, who both made their 60th competitive appearance for Dundalk on the night.

Landmark for Shields

Chris Shields came off the bench for Dundalk on Saturday night for the 30th time in his Dundalk career in the league and 40th time overall. He will make his 175th competitive appearance for the club if he features against Cork City at the weekend.

Killer duo

Dundalk have never lost in matches where Ciaran Kilduff (21 games) or Patrick McEleney (7 games) have scored in. Saturday night was just the second time they have both scored in the same game.

Dundalk have edge

Cork City might have won the two most recent battles with Dundalk in last season’s FAI Cup final and the President’s Cup final last month but Dundalk hold the better record over John Caulfield’s side at Tu rner’s Cross in recent years. Last season’s 1-0 home win for the Rebels was their first over Dundalk since Stephen Kenny took charge. Of the five games at the Leeside venue since 2013 Dundalk have won 2, drawn 2 and lost one. They recorded back-to-back 2-1 wins in 2014 and 2015 but have yet to keep a clean sheet away to their nearest rivals having drawn 2-2 in both 2013 and 2015.
