- The late Tim Kearney.

Tim Kearney 1923-2017

THE death has taken place of Tim Kearney, who died peacefully at Carlingford Nursing Home on 4 February, 2017.

Born in Whitestown where he spent all his life, he was one of the Cooley peninsula’s oldest residents, and would have turned 94 on 23 February last.

Tim was the son of the late John and Rose Anne Kearney, and worked on the family farm in Templetown.

A lovely singer, he was an active member of the Boher Church Choir for many years; and he also enjoyed playing cards and bingo in the local hall.

He liked travelling and went on several pilgrimages to Lourdes with the Very Rev. Father Crawley.

For the past five years, Tim was a resident in Carlingford Nursing Home, where he was lovingly cared for by the nurses and staff.

He enjoyed the weekday trips to the weekday care centre in Carlingford.

Tim is survived by his sister, Margaret; sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relations and friends.

Having reposed at the nursing home, and after prayers led by Very Rev. Brian McCreesh, PP, Carlingford, his remains were removed to the Church of Our Lady Star of the Sea, Boher, where they were received by Very Rev. Father Malachy Conlon PP, Grange and Rev. Tommy McNulty, CC, Cooley.

His funeral Mass was celebrated the following day by Fr. Conlon.

Readings during the Mass were given by Bernadette Holloway (niece) and Therese Murphy (niece); and Prayers of the Faithful were led by Valerie McCartney (niece) and William Kearney (nephew).

The offertory gifts were presented by John Kearney (nephew), Tom McCartney and Fionnuala Quinn.

The liturgy was enhanced by sacred music, vocals provided by Marion Holden (niece) and Fionnuala Quinn, and instrumental by Edel Duffy (niece) and Anne Quinn (niece).

After Mass burial took place in the adjoining cemetery.
