OUR last port of call on Friday night was to the Clans Clubrooms where a surprise 70th birthday party was taking place for Rose McCrave from Cedarwood Park and there to make sure she had a fantastic night were daughters Jenny Mullen from Farndreg, Elizabeth McCabe from Beechmount Drive, sons Donald and Joseph McCrave from Cedarwood Park and Daniel McCrave from Beechmount Drive and a huge collection of family and friends.

I wasn’t too long in the door when I met up with Eileen McCabe from Marian Park, Marie O’Brien from Dowdallshill and Susan Rice from Oliver Plunkett Park who are all great mates with Rose and told me they were sure it was going to turn out to be a mad night for certain.

Also enjoying themselves that the same table were nieces Geraldine Gorman from Oakland Park who was with Emmet McPhillips from Avondale Park, Pauline McCourt from Greenacres with husband David, sister-in-law Patsy Gorman from Cedarwood Park who all were delighted to see the look on Rose’s face when she arrived and found them all there waiting to celebrate her big day.

At an adjacent table I then got taking to Rose’s son Donal McCrave who was having a laugh with Liam Moran from Beechmount Drive and they wanted to wish Rose a very happy 70th.

After this I got a word with daughter-in-law Christina McCabe from Beechmount Drive with Daniel and Eilish and wanted to wish her mum a very happy birthday.

Meanwhile at another table I then caught up with Dowdallshill vice chairman Peadar Toal who was with his wife Claire and Bridget McKevitt from Flagstaff who are all friends of Rose’s although I think Peadar felt a little uncomfortable in the Clans for some strange reason!

Making my way through the crowds I then got a word with Josephine McCrave who was having a night of it with Vicky Bailey from Glenmore Park and the famous Chris Lee from Doylesfort Road who told me they were definitely up for making the very best of Rose’s big bash.

Next I got talking to granddaughter Chelsea Mullen from Farndreg who was with her parents Jennifer and Brendan, sisters Kellie and Nicola and brother Bea.

After this I got a word with David McCabe from Beechmount Drive who said he was with his wife Elizabeth and Roisin and wanted to wish Rose a very happy birthday

Not too long after this I met up with Nicole Crosby from Farndreg Close who was with Stephen Cooney from Cedarwood Park who wanted to wish their friend Rose a very happy 70th as did Dean and Sinead Crawley from Woodview Park.

I then caught up with Chelsea’s sister Kellie Mullen from Oakland Park who told me she was with Rose’s great grandson Kyerin and assured me they’d be partying long and hard.

Next I met up with Gavin Macken from Ashling Park who told me he was with Rose’s son Donal and they were getting for some major dance moves!

Finally, I caught up with Rose’s daughter Elizabeth McCabe from Beechmount Drive who was with husband David and kids Chealam, Kayla, Dearbhla and Roisin and she had tricked Rose by telling her they were going to a football presentation for her son.
