On Friday night, I headed for the Lisdoo where a rather special 50th birthday party was taking place for Gary Magill from O’Hanlon Park and there to make sure he had a fantastic night was his wife Sonia, daughter Megan, son Cody, parents Tony and Rita Magill from Blackwater Court, sisters Mary and Brian Duffy from Belfry Drive, Karen and David Tobin from Springfield Manor, brother Anthony and Loraine Magill from Dromintee and a huge collection of family, relations and friends.

I wasn’t too long in the door when I met up with birthday boy Gary who works for Moffetts who was with his friends Kevin and Elaine Finnegan from Sharkey’s Bar in Mullacrew and wanted to thank everyone for coming to the party. I then headed over to a table where I met up with Linda Casey from Fatima and Bernard Storey from Ashling Park who told me they are best buddies with Gary and wanted to wish him all the best on his big night.

Seated close by I then got talking to Paul Tobin from Red Barns Road who was enjoying the company of Karen, Anthony and Lorraine Tobin from Dromintee who were having a great laugh with Gary’s cousin Dee Brady originally from town but who had come over form London specially to be there for Gary’s big bash.

After this I caught up with Kaitlyn Magill from Dromintee, Shane and Aoife Tobin from Red Barns Road and Anton Magill from Dromintee who wanted to wish uncle Gary all the best on his big night.

Making my way through the crowds I then got a word with Gary’s parents Rita and Tony Magill from Blackwater Court who were with Jacqueline McCabe and Owenie Woods from Cluan Enda who were up for making it a lovely night.

I then caught up with Gary’s son Cody Magill who told me he was there on the night with his granny Rita and was up for making the best of the night.

Also at the same table I got a word with Pauline O’Sullivan, Martha and Joe Magill all from Bessbrook who definitely up for making the best of their nephew’s big night.

After this I got talking to Tom and Linda Casey from Fatima and Bernard and Eileen Story from Ashling Park who were enjoying the night with Alice Minto who lives two doors down from Gary and Sonia, Geraldine Minto who was up form Belfast specially and they were with Gary’s daughter Megan who told me that she and Alice were heading over to Crufts the following morning and unfortunately Geraldine was their designated driver!

Seated beside them was Stephanie Bond from Muirhevnamor who told me that she actually is with Cody on the night.

Also in their company were Regina and Vinny Quigley from Armagh Road who were with kids Devin and Ellis and Cliodhna Kelly form Mullabawn along with Jennifer Lawrence from Dowdallshill who was awaiting the arrival of her main man Robert who was up watching the mighty Dundalk FC in action, but who was on his way.

They were also sitting with Yunan Shen and Patricia Browne both from Waterville Crescent who were enjoying the night with brother-in-law Mark and Gillian Begley from Blackrock, Daniel and Laura Berry from Muirhevnamor who assured me it was going to be an epic night for sure.

Making my way over to another group I then got talking to Bun and Yvonne Casey and Bun told me he became friends with Gary when he lived in the Gaza Strip as you come into Fatima 35 years ago, and they’ve been friends ever since.

I then caught up with Gary’s wife Sonia who was having a laugh with William and Debbie Joyce from Muirhevnamor who told me they’ve been friends with him that long too. They were on for making it a real night to remember with Geraldine and Peter Arrowsmith from Muirhevnamor who wanted to wish Gary all the best on his big night.
