Cross Cooley Challenge set to host major fundraising walk
The 2017 Cross Cooley Challenge was launched with plans once again for another major fundraising walk across the scenic Cooley mountains.
Last year €28,500 was raised for the very deserving causes of the North Louth Hospice and the Maria Goretti Foundation, and the organisers are aiming for the 2017 event to be bigger and better.
The 15.5kilometre walk will take place on Saturday 7th May starting from the Lumpers at 11a.m, taking the challenging walk across the Cooley Mountains into Carlingford.
Anyone needing transport out to the event should meet at Greenore Railway Saloon, Quay Street, Dundalk at 10a.m that morning for registration and then buses to and from the drop off and pick up points.
For those who are from the Cooley area registration will take place at 10.30a.m. at the Lumpers entrance.
Everyone is invited to participate in this fun day by either walking or financially sup- porting the walkers knowing that 100% of the funds will go to support The North Louth Hospice and the Maria Goretti Foundation.
Errol Boyle from the organising committee said: ‘We decided to include both the Maria Goretti Foundation and the North Louth Hospice as our fundraisers this year as both organisations service the catchment area of Louth and there are very few families in Louth who have not benefited by their great work.’
