Great chance to see beauty of Cooley mountains

THIS week the committee of the Cross Cooley Challenge announced that they are to stage another charity walk over the scenic Cooley Mountains.

Last year the event attracted 245 trekkers who enjoyed a day of fun and raised €28,500 for the very deserving causes of the North Louth Hospice and the Maria Goretti Foundation.

In total over the last three years this event has raised €72,500 which has gone directly to the named causes in different degrees.

The committee are committed to trying to better this for the combined causes this year of the North Louth Hospice and the Maria Goretti Foundation.

If you have never walked over the Cooley mountains, this event is an ideal opportunit­y to see the beautiful countrysid­e and glorious views of Carlingfor­d Lough and the Mourne mountains.

This walk of 15.5km will take place on Saturday, May 7 starting from the Lumpers at 11 a.m. taking the challengin­g walk across the Cooley Mountains into Carlingfor­d.

The organisers are ensuring a fun day with a refreshmen­ts for all walkers and some pleasant surprises on the route.

They urge as many as possible to support these great causes by sponsoring the walkers or even better turning up on the Saturday morning of May 7th at 10.30am and enjoying a great experience.
