The St. Patrick’s junior team suffered a heavy defeat in their 2nd round league match v Mattock Rangers on Sunday morning.

Mattock started well racing into a 1-1 to 0-0 lead after 5 minutes, however a Patrick Kirk goal on the 10th minute brought the Pats back into the game. Mattock added a further point, but even though the Pats had a lot of the ball they were unable to add scores and with poor handling at times, Mattock were able to punish the Pats adding a further 1-2 to their tally.

The Pats continued to have a lot of possession in the final 5 minutes of the half and Jason Woods added 2 points to reduce the gap to 5 points. St. Patricks had two great goal chances towards the end of the half however with both going wide of the posts and they went in at the break with a 5 point deficit; Mattock Rangers 2-4 v St.Patricks 1-2.

Both sides struggled to get going in the 2nd half only adding a point each in the opening 10 minutes. Mattock Rangers however stepped up a gear and added 3-3 in the next 10 minutes and with the Pats struggling in possession, Mattock finished of a convincing 6-9 v 1-4 win.
