Dundalk Simon launch new look charity shop

DUNDALK Simon Community will officially launch their newly refurbished Yorke Street charity shop next week with a very special guest.

The popular second hand store has undergone a major renovation, creating an appealing new look shop.

Manager, Marie Turley, explained the radical overhaul of the premises, which was the original base of the Simon Community in Dundalk.

‘It is now a much brighter, more spacious shop, with beautifully decorated changing facilities, and a more open plan area for our customers to browse and shop. The front of the shop has also been given a new look colour and a completely new sign, which has brightened up the whole outside of the premises.’

Marie added: ‘ We are really thrilled with how it has turned out, and the feedback from our regular customers especially has been so positive.’

She added that the range of high quality goods donated from large furniture pieces such as sofas and beds to clothing, jewellery, handbags and shoes means that they have a lot to display.

‘We have had some fabulous dresses donated by Gasp boutique in Newry, which are really beautiful, and the renovation has really given us the opportunity to show the very best of what is donated.’

Catherine Kieran from Dundalk Simon explained that their work was reliant on vital fundraising, a lot of which comes from their charity shop.

‘We are very grateful for the ongoing donations, and hope people will continue to support us, as the shop continues to be one of the main fundraisers for our work.’

She explained that the building was home to the Simon’s first headquarters in Dundalk, and continues to be a flagship building.

The official launch of the new look building will take place on Wednesday next, April 19th, when legendary peformer Susan McCann will cut the ribbon in York Street. This exciting event will start with the official relaunch at the Simon Shop at 1pm followed by afternoon tea in the Lisdoo at 2pm. On the day Susan will be joined by special guest Lynda Strain Makeup Artist. Tickets, priced €10 or €5 for students or OAPs, are available from Seatown House, the Simon Shop in Yorke Street or the Lisdoo. A raffle will also take place on the day with prizes donated from Gasp Boutique in Newry and Armagh, Susan McCann, Linda Strain and the Lisdoo.
