THE weekend v Par competitio­n was decided on a countback after both players had finished on 6 up. Frank Ryan (15) was declared the winner pipping Ciaran Finnegan (28) to top spot. Third place on 5 up went to Liam O’Hare (17) . Next weekend is a 3 Category Singles stableford competitio­n over Easter Saturday and Sunday. There is an Open Singles off the Green markers on Easter Monday.

Our Ulster Cup team were the first into competitiv­e action for 2017 and Paul Kelly’s team were 5 ½ to 1 ½ home winners over Belvoir Park who will be looking to overturn that result in a fortnight’s time.

Club President Pius Tierney teamed up with BC Electrics ,Dundalk Charlie McShane in the Seniors fourball better ball and they were plugged in from the start as they put on an electric performanc­e that destroyed the rest of the field. An opening four pointer, the first of three lit the fuse of success as they romped to victory with a return of 36 points for the 12 hole competitio­n. Next week Senior Convenor Frank will unveil the Senior competitio­n diary for the year.

The annual fundraisin­g club classic will take place on April 29 & 30 and May 1. The 3 person team @ £60 per team (inc food) is Open to both GUI and Non-Gui Golfers. In fact there will be prizes on offer in 3 categories a GUI Section, a Non-GUI Section, and a 3 person all visitors GUI team Section. As is the norm in our Annual club fundraiser no full Cloverhill member teams allowed to participat­e.

Scoring format this year has been made easier with One score to count at the Par 3’s, Two scores to count at the Par 4’s and all 3 scores to count at the Par 5’s.

There will be an Open Singles Stableford competitio­n off the Green markers on Easter Monday and everyone is welcome. Entry Fee is £10 per visitor and £5 for members. was 74.

Bernie McCabe (19) is playing great golf winning Class A with 36pts. Mags Coburn (19) was close behind in second with 36pts from 17 holes. Jennifer Holland finshed third with 33pts.

Maria Kerr had a magnificen­t 38pts winning Class B while Mary Thornton won Class C with a very good score of 31pts.

The winner of the 9 Hole competitio­n was Irene Quinn (20) with 14pts.

At the presentati­on Lady Captain thanked Sheba for their beautiful prizes and thanked them for their continued support of the ladies section.

Followed by Presentati­on of prizes with music and entertainm­ent, Easter Monday 17th April will be an Open Fourball any combinatio­n kindly sponsored by MYHOME.IE and our next Open Seniors will be Monday 24th April.

On Saturday 15th April a Singles SF competitio­n. Booking per ladies/gents timesheet opens this Wednesday at 8pm. Please ensure you have opposition and return all cards to competitio­n box ladies locker room. after a hard fought win against Fintona. Team captain Lenny McKitteric­k will look forward to the next round where the opposition will be County Armagh Golf Club.

Conditions were tough and scores were low, but it was Louise Hanratty’s score of 33pts that won this week’s competitio­n. I’m sure the ladies in the winning circle all were disappoint­ed after their rounds; neverthele­ss they did enough to win.

Our Mary McKenna Team played the 1st leg of the competitio­n in Clones on Monday, winning two matches and losing three, they have a lot of work to do at home in return leg Wednesday 19th April.
