A 25 year old resident who reversed into a wall was fined €250 and disqualifi­ed from driving for three years for drug driving and fined €100 for not having insurance.

Conor McManus of 8 Lios Mead, Blackrock, pleaded guilty to the ofence which happened at Dromiskin on May 14, 2016.

Gardai received a call from a member of the public who had heard a bang outside their house. They observed a male getting out of car which had crashed into a neighbour’s wall.

The man was very disorienta­ted and a blood sample taken following his arrested proved positive for cannaboids. He had seven previous conviction­s.

Mr Frank McDonnell solicitor said his client had learned his lesson and hasn’t been dabbling drugs for six months. He had just taken up employment. had been stolen.

Gardai looked at CCTV and found Scott in his sister’s flat upstairs. He admitted taking the safe and the money, and €920 was handed back to Gardai for the physio. But there was over €100 missing and the cheque and safe were not recovered.

Scott, who has 60 previous conviction­s including for public order, drugs possession and traffic offences, had since replaced the safe.

Ms Eleanor Kelly said her client had ‘put his hands up’ and admitted the offence although he had no recollecti­on of the incident. He had paid for the damage to the safe and the money taken out of it. He had helped the gardai as much as he could, but couldn’t say who was responsibl­e. His sister had lost her apartment as a result of the incident.

Judge Flann Brennan imposed a fine of €300.
