Woman in trouble after affair accusal

-

A woman who wrongly believed that another woman was having an affair with the father of her child verbally abused her while the victim was collecting her child from school and again when they met in the social welfare office.

Fedelia Ayoub, (42), 115 Ashbrook, Tom Bellew Avenue admitted offences arising out of incidents at Chapel Street on September 5 and at the Department of Social Protection in Dundalk on October 10.

Judge John Coughlan heard how on September 5 the victim was collecting her child and the defendant accused her of being with her partner.

The court was also told how the victim met Ayoub as she was leaving the social welfare offices and said the defendant told her: ‘I hope you are not still going with my husband’. The victim ignored her and went over to her vehicle in the car park, but Ayoub followed her and was shouting at her.

The woman got into her car and locked herself in, but Ayoub started banging on the windows, pulling on the doors and was pushing the car as the victim was trying to drive away.

Ayoub pulled at the wing mirror and damaged it and it was left hanging off.

Solicitor Elaine Connolly said Ayoub, who has no previous convictions, is originally from Nigeria and is now a naturalised Irish citizen.

She said the incidents had happened because Ayoub thought the victim was conducting a relationship with the father of her son. Ms Connolly said the defendant is now a single mother who relies on social welfare.

Damage costing €265 was done to the vehicle and Ms Connolly said Ayoub is willing to pay for it. Judge Coughlan adjourned the case to July 12 for compensation to be paid.
