Crystal Ice dancers heading to US

-

DUNDALK’S ‘Crystal Ice’ dancers are set to represent Ireland in Arizona at the ‘HipHop’ world championships.

The ‘War Dance’ crew from Crystal Ice dance school were thrilled to qualify for the world finals, which will be held in Phoenix, Arizona in August.

The qualifiers for the event were held in Belfast last week, and the talented Dundalk dancers took first place, with a gold medal finish.

The troupe consist of dancers in the ten to twlve year old category, who all competed in the junior event.

Crystal Ice founder Emmanuella Salako said she was delighted at their success.

‘I believe this could be the year for ‘War Crew’, and the could very possibly place in the top ten in the world.’

But she added that with just a few months to go before the US event, the dance crew need to fund raise between €7000 and €10,000 to cover travel and the cost of the competition for all the dancers.

Appealing for business sponsorship, she added ‘any type of sponsorship will go a long way. It is a big opportunity for the kids to perform on the world stage, and to represent our town of Dundalk. The ‘HipHop International’ is known as the Olympics of the dance world, and is the biggest hip hop dance platform in the world.

‘ This is the third year Crystal Ice dancers have qualified to take part in the Arizona event, but this year in particular is a very important one for the ‘War Dance’ crew as it is their last time to compete as juniors before they move to the varsity category.
