Dogs stolen, duck killed in burglary
OWNER APPEALING FOR SAFE RETURN OF DOG FOLLOWING BREAK-IN AT HOME THAT GARDAI ARE INVESTIGATING
THE owner of a dog that was stolen from her locked shed while she was out has taken to Facebook to appeal for its safe return and has offered a reward. And Gardai confirmed they too are appealing for information following the break-in at the house in the Churchtown area of Ardee on Thursday last.
The homeowner was out of the house for most of the day and returned at around 7pm to find a garden gate open. When she went to the shed to check on her dogs - a French bulldog and a Jack Russell - she found that the shed had been broken into and the dogs taken. In addition, the owner discovered that a duck that had been hand-reared by her children, had been killed.
The Jack Russell was found about a mile away ‘shaking but alive’, but there was no trace of the expensive French bulldog called Cupcake. The owner said her children’s hearts are broken and has set up a Facebook page called ‘Help Find Cupcake’ where people with information about the dog or who have been offered it for sale can get in touch.
Meanwhile, a 21-year-old man is due to appear in court in Dundalk later this month after Gardai charged him in connection with ‘a significant public order incident’ in the Francis Street area of the town in the early hours of Sunday morning. Gardai allege that the man, from Dundalk, was involved in two incidents which ‘involved a number of people engaging in aggressive behaviour’.
Two were arrested and while one has been charged, a file is being prepared in relation to the second person who has been released without charge following the incidents which happened between 3am and 4am on Sunday.
Gardai also had to deal with a public order incident in Carlingford on Saturday. Gardai said a 23-year-old man from the North was arrested and charged with public order offences following what they said was ‘irate and abusive’ behaviour in the village. Information is also sought after tyres and seats of a number of kids’ bikes were slashed at Ferdia Park, Ardee on Saturday.
