Louth Enterprise Office plays pivotal role in job creation

The Local Enterprise Office (LEO) in Louth announced record results in their recent end of year review, including the creation of 83 new jobs in LEO supported companies.

The results were announced on a visit to Sync IT in Dundalk, the winner of the best Business Growth Award in Louth in 2016. The company provides IT support services for SME’s ‘ We become their virtual IT department providing technical expertise and peace of mind for business owners and managers by automating business processes, improving efficiency, controllin­g costs and enhancing staff performanc­e,’ explains Joe Molloy.

Head of Enterprise Thomas McEvoy explained: ‘Eighty-three new jobs were created in 2016 by LEO supported companies. These are not projected figures, but actual real jobs that already exist. This figure is up from 45 in 2014 and 65 in 2015, a really good indicator of growth in the county.”

LEO Louth has 200 grant aided clients with an average of 4 employees per client.

Nationally, 10% of the companies that progressed from being Local Enterprise Office clients to Enterprise Ireland clients in 2016 came from Louth. Over €310,000 of grant aid was approved by the Local Enterprise Office Louth in 2016.

Training is another area where there has been significan­t growth. In 2016 1,116 participan­ts took part in 62 different training events and over 150 participan­ts completed Start Your Own Business courses.
