Cake sale at Bank of Ireland raised €1450 for CHI

-

LOCAL childcare students raised an incredible €1450 for the Children in Hospital Ireland (CHI) foundation through a cake sale at the Bank of Ireland in Dundalk.

Grace Finnegan and Patricia O Hanlon have volunteered ourselves to work with CHI - Children in Hospital Ireland for the next year.

‘It is our duty to go up to the Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda once a week to play with the sick children on the wards, A & E department and also in the isolation rooms,’ explained Grace.

‘As Childcare Level 6 students we felt this was a lovely rewarding thing to do for sick children as we know hospital can be a very frightening place. We want to make hospital a happier place for sick children. After doing some brainstorm- ing we decided to host a cake sale in the Bank of Ireland in Dundalk to raise much needed funds for this very worthy cause. Our Cake Sale was enhanced with lots of fresh home baking from both family and friends, and we had great response from local Dundalk Business who very kindly donated wonderful prizes for our raffle which took place on the day.

‘Our Cake Sale event was a great success as we raised a total of €1450. We were absolutely delighted with the enthusiastic response we received from all the Bank of Ireland customers. So imagine our delight when we received a donation from Dundalk Credit Union ( Market Street) to the value of €300, which has brought us up to a total of €1750.00.’
