MANNAN Castle was the venue last Saturday for the staging of the society’s President’s Prize. On a hot breezy day with baked fairways and tough greens, one man mastered the conditions and emerged victorious. Founding member Brendan Kelly won by 3 clear shots beating Pat Gray into 2nd place. Society Captain Michael McKeown came in 3rd.

Following an excellent meal in the clubhouse, the members headed back in to “The Big House” Anne Street where President Pat Morrissey was in attendance to present the coveted prizes. An enjoyable night was had by all.

The next outing is the ever popular ‘Captain’s Day Out’ which is an overnight in Trim on 17th June together with golf in the magnificent Knightsbrook Golf Club. Deposits currently being taken by any Committee member.

The Society marks 25 years since its foundation this year and to celebrate this landmark a special outing is currently being organised and is scheduled to take place in Dundalk Golf Club on Friday 14th July at 2pm. A sub-committee is currently in the process of writing to all past captains and all past members inviting them to play on the day. The golf will be followed by a 3-course meal in the clubhouse and there will be music and presentation of prizes in ‘The Big House’ on the night.

The organising committee are Seamus Bailey, Pat Gray, Brian McEneaney, Michael McKeown and Patsy Duffy.
