SPECIAL NIGHT FOR ALICE’S 70TH BIRTHDAY PARTY
On Friday night, I headed for the Lisdoo where a rather special 70th birthday party was being held for Alice Taaffe from Ardee Terrace and there to make sure she had a fantastic night were daughter Sandra, sons Paul, Gerard and David, grandkids Ruth, Callum, Lee, Mia James and Emily and a huge collection of family and friends.
I wasn’t too long in the door when I met up with Alice’s son Gerard from Ardee Terrace who was with his mate Joey Lynch from Brook Street who wanted to wish her all the best and were up for making it a mad night for sure.
Not too far away I met up with Renee Gray from Cooley Park who told me she is a ‘ bingo buddy’ of Alice’s and was up for making a night of it with her friends Catherine Moran from Bay Estate and Pauline Moran from Hyde Park who all wanted to wish Alice all the best on her big night.
After this I headed over for a word with Annelaine Conroy from Drumcar and Bob McCabe from Knockbridge who told me they are friends of David’s and told me it was a fantastic night so far and getting better all the time.
Not too far away I then met up with niece Catriona Matthews-Lynch from Point Road who was with her dad, brotherin-law Sean Matthews and her son Seb Matthews-Lynch from Point Road who wanted to wish aunty Alice all the best on her big night.
Making my way over to another table I met up with aunty Betty Ralph from St Malachys Villas who was with daughter Regina Kehoe from Walterstown and Mary Ralph from Parnell Park who assured me that it was going to be a great night for sure.
Also in their company were Anne Mundow from Blackrock, her daughter Saorla and her daughter Ruth and they wanted to wish Ruth’s grandmother Alice a very happy 70th.
Not too long later I got a word with Miranda Kirby from Bay Estate who was with her partner Paul Taaffe and kids Emily and Lee as well as Rosemary Degan from Avenue Road who were up for making a major night of Alice’s big bash.
I then got a quick word with Alice’s sister May Brady from Newry who was there on the night with son Declan, daughter-in-law Joanne and kids Eva, Rose and Finlay and Pat Brady all from Avenue Inn who wanted to wish aunty Alice all the best on her big night.
I then headed over for a quick word with Alice’s daughter Sandra McMahon from Newry who was there with husband Jim and kids Callum, Mia and James along with Sandra’s buddies Bernie Rafferty and Phil O’Reilly both from Avenue Road who assured me it was going to be nothing short of an epic night for sure.
Making my way over to another table I got a swift word with family friends Marie and Willie Dillon from St. Nicholas Avenue who assured me it was bound to be a good night with Alice.
Not too far away I then met up with Emma McAtasney from Laurelbrook Gardens who was with her mum Angela from St. Alphonsus Villas who is a ‘ bingo buddy’ of Alice’s and they were enjoying the festivities with Stephen McAtasney and Montira Satsam both from St. Alphonsus Villas.
Next I got talking to Paul Grimes from Kilkerley who was with his wife Anne and sisterin-law Siobhan Cassidy from Anne Street and he told me that the girls were old neighbours of Alice’s and were delighted to be there.
After this I got a word with Patricia and Gerard Byrne from Ardee Terrace who wanted to wish their neighbour all the best on the big night.
Finally before I departed I met up with son Paul Taaffe from Bay Estate who was in great form and whom I owe a major debt to, Paul helped me out a couple of weeks ago and I certainly owe him one! He wanted to wish his mum all the best and was sure she was going to have a fantastic night with her family and all her friends.
Also a special mention for my old mate Simon Mackin whom I met up with during the week. Simon was home from Australia with Annabelle Larue for Bernie Mac and Stephen Whitty’s wedding a few weeks ago and I caught up with him when they were out for a few with the delightful Niamh Mundow. Simon is still Dundalk FC’s biggest fan in Australia!
