Old Carrick Mill gin in running for Ireland’s best

- Old Carrick Mill Gin is taking part in the Gin and Tonic Fest later this month. By ANNE CAMPBELL

The Old Carrick Mill brand, establishe­d by North Louth man Steven Murphy, is among the distillers vying for Ireland’s best gin and tonic in this year’s Gin and Tonic Fest, which is an all Ireland search for the country’s very best tipple.

And the gin distiller, which is based in Carrickmac­ross, will be hosting a number of nights from June 25 to July 1 and everyone is welcome to join the fun.

The first event takes place on Sunday June 25 from 3pm to 6pm and is a Gin and Jazz afternoon in the Four Seasons Hotel Monaghan that will feature gorgeous Old Carrick Mill gin enjoyed in the surroundin­gs of the newly opened Limewood suite over looking the gardens while listening to the finest jazz. Old Carrick Mill’s master distiller will be there to reveal all about their award winning gin and the perfect serve.

Nallo’s in Main Street, Carrickmac­ross is the venue for the next event, which takes place on Thursday June 29 and Pull the Plug will be kicking off the night with the finest trad set. Old Carrick Mill will be there and will reveal why it’s all about pears and blueberrie­s.

The fun moves to Dundalk the following night, Friday June 30 and to Russell’s Bar Gin Emporium, in Park Street will be hosting Old Carrick Mill and showcasing some hot new cocktails and special G&Ts.

And Callans bar and Restaurant, Castleblay­ney Road, Dundalk will unveil their new gin and beer garden on July 1 with a meet and greet by Old Carrick Gin, who will have some big news about their award-winning small batch gin.
