Greystones bowled over by Dundalk

CRICKET DUNDALK ON A ROLL

-

DUNDALK Cricket Club recorded a dramatic victory in Dromiskin on Sunday as another fine bowling performance helped them win a low-scoring game.

With many games around Leinster postponed due to rain, Dundalk will be delighted that their game was played as they recovered from a disappointing batting display to beat Greystones and record their second win in-a-row in Division 10 of the Leinster League.

Dundalk could only muster 116 from their batting innings, both skipper Andrew Williams and Haroon Khan making 29.

Defending a small total, Dundalk knew they needed to strike early on and they did this brilliantly.

Four maidens in succession by the opening combination of Williams and Muhammad Zahid reduced Greystones to 3-2.

With those two and Waqas Khan bowling well Greystones limped to 37-5 with 20 overs gone.

The visitors were clearly hoping to bat through their overs and edge over the line and while Ashley Kempton was at the crease they were still the favourites.

However, he was eventually bowled by Muhammad after making 35, the highest score of the game and after that Dundalk pushed for victory.

Still Greystones battled but eventually after a final run out, they were dismissed for 96 and Dundalk won the game by 20 runs.

Captain Williams ended with four wickets, while Muhammad got three and Waqas two.

It was a great boost for Dundalk who after some early defeats now have real momentum at the halfway mark of their league campaign. DUNDALK: Andrew Williams (captain), Sajan Jayaseelan, Regin Samuel, Haroon Khan, Waqas Khan, Suseel Dev, Muhammad Zahid, Brolin Sunther, Seamus McDermott, Santhosh Kumar, Gerry McKeever.
