-

HEROIN, with an estimated street value of €1,500, has been found in a car that was stopped by Gardai at the Castletown Road yesterday (Monday) morning.

A car was stopped by Dundalk Gardai at around 8.45am and a 29-year-old man was arrested in connection with the find. Investigations, Gardai, said, are ongoing.

Officers are also investigating the attempted break-in to a car at Rockfield Court in the early hours of Monday morning. A 33-year-old man was arrested at the scene and Gardai say he was found with a knife on him.

And in a separate incident, there was a break-in to a car parked at the house at the Loakers between 10.30pm on Sunday 13 and 10.30am the following morning.

The owner noticed that a laptop and charger, which were in a case, had been stolen and the car had been ransacked.

A man, believed to be from Belfast, was yesterday being questioned about an alleged serious assault on his brother, which is believed to have taken place in the Omeath area on Sunday. It is understood the pair were staying in a caravan in North Louth when there was an altercation and the suspect’s brother received injuries, said to be serious.

The victim’s brother was yesterday being questioned at Dundalk Garda station on suspicion of assault causing harm.

The victim who on Monday remained unconscious, is being treated for his injuries at Daisy Hill Hospital in Newry.
