IT was a game of two halves at Fr McEvoy Park last Thursday evening as Cooley Kickhams survived a brilliant Geraldines fightback to emerge four-point winners in this Group 4 championsh­ip clash.

Geraldines trailed by 5-3 to 0-5 at the interval after a hat-trick of goals from Cooley’s Callum O’Hanlon, but the Haggardsto­wn boys limited their hosts to a single point in the second half as they threatened to turn the tie on its head. different goalscorer­s as they pulled away in the second half to defeat Roche Emmets by a 17-point margin at Fr McEvoy Park last Wednesday night.

Roche were still in contention at the break, trailing by 2-9 to 1-6.

GIRLS UNDER-12 FC COOLEY KICKHAMS NEWTOWN BLUES 3-11 1-6

COOLEY Kickhams’ Under-12 girls got their championsh­ip campaign off to a great start with a convincing win over Newtown Blues.

The game, played over four quarters, began with a fine point from Katelyn Murphy and good marking and strong tackling helped keep the Drogheda girls at bay.

At the other end of the field Chloe Mc Carrgher, Ciara Murphy, Katie O’Rourke The Cooley Kickhams team who defeated Newtown Blues in the Girls Under-12 Championsh­ip. and Katelyn Savage did enough to keep the scoreboard ticking over for the eventual winners.

It was a good team performanc­e and the Cooley girls are in action again this Thursday evening when they travel to face Kilkerley Emmets (throw in 7pm, support welcome).
